Easy to Prepare
Valentine Menu

The recipes for this Valentine Menu have been specifically chosen with ease and preparation time in mind. After all, you don't want to spend most of the evening tied to the kitchen! But best of all, even though the dishes are not at all complicated, they will make a great impression.

The appetizer and dessert require very little time to prepare. Admittedly the fish pie involves several stages, but the great thing is that it can be completely assembled the day before and refrigerated overnight. On Valentine's Day, all you then have to do is to bake it!

Gourmet food........the EASY way!

PLANNING NOTES & TIMETABLE

Firstly, click on each individual recipe from the menu above and print them off. Then use the following guide to help you with the planning.

A Few Days Ahead.......

  • Don't forget to buy a suitable Valentine's gift and card.....or there'll be trouble! There's no need to be extravagant, just make it something thoughtful. You could even make the gift yourself, something like my home made chocolate truffles in an attractive gift box.

The Day Before.......

  • Complete the groceries shopping.

  • Prepare the béchamel and the stock for the fish pie.

  • Prepare and cook the fish as directed in the recipe.

  • Cook the potatoes and mash as directed.

  • Assemble the fish pie, but do not cook. Allow to cool completely before refrigerating.

  • If you're going to be drinking champagne, put it in the refrigerator to chill.

About 2 Hours Ahead.......

  • Prepare the Waldorf salad, cover and refrigerate.

  • Prepare the chocolate dipped strawberries. Allow to chill in the refrigerator.

  • Slice the melon, cover with cling-wrap and refrigerate.

Now that your Valentine menu is well advanced, take a little time "setting the scene"........

  • Make sure that everywhere is clean and tidy.

  • Get the kids off to their (pre-arranged) baby-sitter.

  • Take a long, relaxing soak in the bath with your favorite scented oils.

  • Wear something nice, maybe something new!

  • Set the table and select some suitable, romantic music.

  • Light some candles.....the more, the better.

About an Hour Ahead.......

  • Cook the fish pie as directed. If you are cooking the pie from chilled, increase the cooking time to 45 to 50 minutes.

Shortly Before Serving......

  • Assemble the melon appetizer.

And that is all there is to do........this must be the easiest, gourmet Valentine Menu, ever! Now you can relax, and enjoy your romantic, Valentine's Dinner!
