TEA FOR TEETH

by MC
(New York, NY)

My mother's friend was a student in Chile. He comes from a coffee drinking country. While in Chile, he was invited to visit his Consulate. He was offered tea. When he saw the little bag in the saucer, he poured the hot water into the cup, broke open the tea bag and had to drink the tea draining it with his teeth the whole time. Immediately after he did it, he said he realized it was a mistake but he was too proud and embarrassed to ask for something else to drink. He told his embarrassing story to my mom and she gave us the etiquette lesson.
