Cranberry Sauce Recipe
This quick and easy to make cranberry sauce recipe can be prepared up to a week in advance as long as it is stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator. You can use fresh or frozen cranberries.

Cranberry Sauce
INGREDIENTS Serves around 8 to 10
4oz/120g superfine (caster) sugar 1lb/500g cranberries 2fl oz/50ml port (or red wine if not available) 1 cinnamon stick broken in ½ (or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon) finely grated zest and juice of 1 orange
METHOD
If you are suing frozen cranberries, allow them to defrost first.
- Place the sugar into a heavy based saucepan and place over a medium heat until the sugar starts to turn brown around the edges.
- Add the cranberries to the pan followed by all of the remaining ingredients.
- Bring the sauce up to a gentle simmer and allow to cook until the cranberries have broken open and released their juice.
- Continue to simmer stirring occasional until the desired consistency is achieved.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Taste the sauce and add more sugar if it is needed.
This cranberry sauce is the perfect accompaniment to a traditional roast turkey dinner. And of course, no Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner table would be complete without it!
